The Club Consitution

The Constitution - 1989

1) The Club shall be called Cambridge Ladies Hockey Club and shall be affiliated to the Cambridgeshire Womens Hockey Association

2) AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

a) To offer a gane of hockey to all members who wish to play

b) To improve the standard of hockey in the club and develop junior hockey

c) To encourage commitment to the club through social functions

3) MEMBERSHIP

a) Membership shall be open to Honorary Life, Vice-President, playing and non-playing members

b) Honorary Life Members and Vice-Presidents may be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club on the recommendation of the Committee or as 4 f)

c) Non playing members shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting, or by the Committee

d) Playing members may be elected by the committee or on the field by not fewer than seven club members after playing in at least three practices or games. To enable new members to attend County Trials the requirement to be seen playing twice may be waived

e) The election of new playing members shall be completed before the Annual General Meeting

4) OFFICERS

a) The business of the club shall be conducted by a committee consisting of five Officers (who may also be officials):

President Club Captain Hon. Treasurer Hon. Secretary Fixture Secretary

And the following other officials: 1st XI Captain 2nd XI Captain 3rd XI Captain Publicity Secretary Other team Captains as necessary

b) For committee meetings five members shall form a quorum of which three shall be Officers. The committee shall have the power to co-opt not more than two other members who shall not be entitled to vote

c) Sub-committees may be set up by agreement with the committee and shall report back to the committee

d) Officers and officials shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall hold office until the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting. They shall be eligible for re-election (see g) for elections for captains and h) for election of mid-week captain

e) Notification from the committee of Officers and officials willing to stand for re-election shall be circulated to the Club Members with the notice of the Annual General Meeting

f) Nominations in writing for any Officer, official and Vice-President, duly proposed and seconded and with the written consent of the nominee, should reach the Secretary at the last two weeks before the Annual General Meeting

g) Captains shall serve for one year and are eligible for further consecutive years. Vice-Captains for each team shall be appointed by the relevant Captain at the start of the season

h) A midweek Captain for the season shall be elected by members of the midweek team at the start of the season, she shall be eligible to attend committee meetings

5) SELECTION

Each team shall be selected by all team Captains or their Vice-Captains, in collaboration with the Club Captains. Any disputes between the above shall be resolved by any three other Officers, in collaboration with the team and Club Captains

6) GENERAL MEETING

a) ANNUAL

i) The Annual General Meeting shall be held before the end of April. Fifteen members shall form a quorum. At least four weeks notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given

ii)The business of the Annual General Meeting is;

(1) To elect Officers, officials and other members

(2) To receive and adopt the reports of the officers

(3) To set subscription and match fees

(4) To nominate members as officers or representatives of the County Association

(5) To consider any proposed amendments to the constitution

(6) To deal with any other business

b) EXTRAORDINARY

Extraordinary General Meetings, at which fifteen members shall form a quorum, shall be called by the Hon. Secretary at the written request of five members of the Club or by agreement of the Committee. At least seven days notice of the meeting, and its purpose shall be given

c) VOTING

i) Only members who have paid a subscription and honorary Life Members, are eligible to vote at General Meetings

ii) The president, or in her absence, other Chairman appointed by a majority present, shall not have a vote except in the event of a tie. She shall then be entitled to a casting vote

iii) Voting will be by a straight majority present except on matters relating to the constitution for which an affirmative two-thirds majority is required

7) CLUB RECORDS

The business of the club General, Extraordinary and Executive meetings shall be recorded in the Minute Book

8) FINANCE

a) Finances shall be vested in the Treasurer. Un-audited accounts shall be made up to 31st March in each year and a draft presented at the Annual General Meeting. Audited accounts made up to 31st July shall be circulated to each member at the beginning of the season

b) Subscription categories are as follows:

i) Non playing

ii) Playing

iii) Students in full-time education and non-wage earners

c) Playing fee categories are as follows:

i) Match Fees

ii) Match Fees students, coaching and practices

9) UNIFORM

The uniform shall consist of navy blue skirts, navy blue knickers/undergarments, Club green shirts purchased from the club, Club green socks purchased from the club and Club green sweatshirts purchased from the club
